Mercedes overwhelmed F1 day back, using black models for 2020

Mercedes racer, Lewis Hamilton fastest in both the first test series (FP1 and FP2), GP Austria on 3/7.

Hamilton was the fastest at FP1 and FP2, with 1 minute of 4,816 seconds and 1 minute of 4,304 seconds. Teammate Valtteri Bottas was the second fastest, 0.36 seconds below Hamilton and 0.197 seconds. Hamilton also reached the highest speed of the day, with 241,739 km / h.

The dominance of Mercedes is shown when Sergio Perez is the third fastest in FP2, in Racing Point’s RP20. RP20 is like a “pink Mercedes”. It not only carries the engine of Mercedes, but also the aerodynamic design like the W10 – the car that helped Mercedes to champion last season. Racing Point’s other driver – Lance Stroll – ranked seventh fastest in FP2.

Ferrari and Red Bull did not perform well. Sebastian Vettel is fourth fastest in FP2, after 0.657 seconds. And Charles Leclerc is only ninth fast, with a result of 1 minute 5,298 seconds. The main force of Red Bull – Max Verstappen – ranked eighth, while teammate Alexander Albon was only 13th quick. The achievements of the above riders are done with soft tires.

Mercedes confirmed it will use the “three-dimensional steering wheel” system for this weekend. In FP1 and FP2, the Bottas detection camera activates this system. Most likely Red Bull will complain about Mercedes’ system.

Mercedes uses black models for 2020

Defending champion F1 Mercedes changed the color of the car from silver to black to support the struggle for the equality of black people. Mercedes cars are always famous with the nickname “silver arrow”. But Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will drive black W11s with a special meaning, this season.

Mercedes changed the color of the W11 for special reasons

Earlier, F1 launched the We Race As One campaign, calling for everyone’s support for anti-racism.

Hamilton, Mercedes’ colored driver, strongly supported the Black Lives Matter movement. He attended a peaceful protest in London. Hamilton is the only colored racer in F1 history.

Following the death of black American citizen George Floyd, Hamilton openly criticized the silence of the F1 community. He vowed to kneel on F1 again for the benefit of black people.

On July 5, the first F1 stage this year will take place in Austria. On July 3, teams will practice their first session, marking the day when F1 cars return after months.
